Biography:
Professor Emeritus, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece (since 2007). He was born in Thessaloniki, Greece on the 3rd of April, 1949. He obtained his B.Sc. Degree in Physics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Greece (1972) and his Ph.D. from the same University (1980). His scientific interests include Non-linear Dynamics and applications to Celestial Mechanics, Plasma Astrophysics, and Gravitational wave-particle interactions. He has published more than 40 scientific papers in refereed journals and more than 10 in conference proceedings and special volumes. He has been a Research Associate at the University of Maryland, U.S.A (1980-82), Lecturer (1982-85), Assistant Professor (1985-93) and Associate Professor (1993-2007) at the University of Thessaloniki. He has served as Director, Section of Astrophysics, Astronomy and Mechanics (1998-99) at the same University. He is a member of the International Astronomical Union (IAU), of the European Astronomical Union (E.A.S.), of the Hellenic Astronomical Society (Hel.A.S.), of the American Physical Society and of the Union of Greek Physicists. He has served for four years as the Secretary of the Hel.A.S.
