Professor Emeritus, Department of Physics, University of Patras, Greece (since 2018). He was born in Nea Ionia, Attica, Greece, on the 1st of January, 1951. He got his B.Sc. in Physics from the University of Patras (1973) and his Ph.D. in Physics from the same University (1978). He has served as Professor of Physics at the Technical Educational Institute (TEI) of Patras, and as a Lecturer, Assistant Professor, and Associate Professor at the Department of Physics, University of Patras, before he was elected in the present position. His scientific interests include Continuum Mechanics, Astrophysical Fluid Dynamics (with emphasis on MHD), and Theoretical Astrophysics (Stellar Mathematical Models with emphasis on Computational Astrophysics of White Dwarfs and Neutron Stars). He is a member of the International Astronomical Union (IAU) and founding member of the Hellenic Astronomical Society (Hel.A.S.). He has served as a member of the Hel.A.S. Council (2004-2006) as well as a member of the Greek National Committee for Astronomy (2008-2010).
